5. Grab a copy of the Because I am a Girl book
If you believe, like we do, that girls’ rights are human rights, then you’ll love our new book by Rosemary McCarney, Plan Canada President and CEO, with Jen Albaugh and Plan International. For girls and boys ages 8 to 14, this book illustrates the Because I am a Girl call for global change by telling the stories of individual girls around the world. Accompanying each real story are Plan's amazing photographs, taken from years of working with girls and their communities. Feel inspired by this book and feel good knowing that profits from the book sales will support Because I am a Girl.
6. Share a note to send girls to school
To celebrate International Day of the Girl, share 1 of 3 special notes of inspiration and Sears Canada will donate $1 for each share to send girls in developing countries to school (up to $30,000)!
7. Give the gift of ‘Girl Power’
Day of the Girl is a day to celebrate and advocate for the rights of girls around the world. What better way to celebrate then to provide our new ‘Girl power’ Gifts of Hope to girls in developing countries? Girls have a unique ability to change the world and the lives of those around them. This gift is about unleashing that power in every girl. It’s about offering girls the nourishment, education and protection to change their lives!
