Toronto, ON, November 20, 2024 – As we enter the year-end giving season, Plan International Canada acknowledges the ongoing postal strike and its impact on deliveries throughout Canada, which may affect the ability of supporters to make donations through traditional mail.

Despite these disruptions, there are still many ways to support children’s rights and equality for girls around the world.

To ensure that your generous contribution reaches Plan International Canada and that you receive your tax receipt, please review the important information below. We appreciate your continued understanding and patience during this time.

What does the strike mean for me?

This disruption will cause delays in Plan Canada receiving donations sent through the mail. Depending on how long the strike lasts, it may mean delays in Gifts of Hope holiday cards being delivered by the end of December.

What can I do instead?

If you were planning to mail in a donation this holiday season, we hope you will consider an alternate option so that we can continue carrying out our mission to advance children’s rights and equality for girls without interruption.

• You can make a secure donation online and receive your tax receipt via email.
• You can make a donation by phone: 1-800-387-1418. Our call centre is open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• You can email us at info@plancanada.ca and we’ll be happy to help you.

If you were hoping to receive a holiday card in the mail, there are still options to get your cards immediately! You can email the card of your choice, or you can print it off at home. Visit plangifts.ca and select “email card” or “print and fold” at checkout.

What if I’ve already mailed in a donation?

Firstly, thank you! There may be a delay in our acknowledging your kind gift, but rest assured we will receive it once delivery resumes, and we will process it as soon as we do. If you requested a hard copy of your tax receipt, there may also be a delay in receiving it.
