Education is one of the most powerful tools to help children reach their full potential and create a more equal, just and prosperous world for everyone. But many girls face barriers, which are rooted in discrimination, that keep them from going to school and having the chance to learn. These barriers can include girls being tasked with the majority of household chores, like collecting water or caring for younger siblings, or harmful practices like being forced to marry and become mothers too young. And when girls are denied their right to education, they're also denied opportunities to earn a livelihood, become independent and achieve their dreams.
Plan International Canada works to improve access to quality and inclusive education by removing barriers and creating safe learning spaces for all children – especially girls. On this page you will find critical research Plan International Canada has done in the field of global education.
