Plan International Canada update for donors as postal service resumes

Toronto, ON, December 17, 2024 – The holiday season is one of the most important times for charities like Plan International Canada, which rely on the generosity of donors. The recent disruption to postal service in Canada has significantly impacted our fundraising efforts this year. With Canada Post operations set to resume this week, Plan International Canada asks donors to continue using the plancanada.ca website or telephone number to make their donations this holiday season.

To ensure that your generous contribution reaches Plan International Canada and that you receive your tax receipt in a timely manner, please review the important information below.

What happens now that postal service is resuming?

We anticipate that Canada Post will be working through a large backlog of mail in the coming weeks and that it will take some time for mailed donations to reach our office.

This could mean a continued delay in our receiving your mailed gift as well as in our acknowledgement of your generous donation. It could also delay when our Gifts of Hope holiday cards reach you.

Will I get a tax receipt or holiday cards in time?

We can’t guarantee when the backlog of mail will be delivered, so we would kindly ask for your patience as postal service resumes. Our staff are on hand to receive mail as it comes in and to acknowledge your donation as quickly as possible.

If you are waiting for Gifts of Hope printed holiday cards to arrive but are looking for alternate options in the meantime, please feel free to call us at 1-800-387-1418 and we can send an email card or a print-at-home version. Our Donor Care call centre is open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET, and we will be happy to assist you.

So, can I mail in my donation now?

If you were hoping to mail in a donation this holiday season, we ask you to kindly consider an alternate option for the time being so that we can continue carrying out our mission to advance children’s rights and equality for girls without interruption.

If you were hoping to receive a Gifts of Hope holiday card in the mail, there are still options to get your cards immediately! You can email the card of your choice, or you can print it off at home. Visit plangifts.ca and select “email card” or “print and fold” at checkout.

If you’d like to use one of these options for a Gift of Hope you’ve already purchased, please call our Donor Care call centre at 1-800-387-1418. The centre is open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET.

What if I’ve already mailed in a donation?
