This is
who we arearrow

Plan International Canada strives for a just world that advances children’s rights and equality for girls. We stand with children, especially girls, wherever they are oppressed, exploited, left behind or not equally valued. Plan International and Plan International Canada have no political or religious affiliations; however, we do believe in the power of global citizenship.

we work with
star

We are a member of a global organization that partners with youth, families, communities, local organizations, supporters, celebrated ambassadors and governments. We collaborate with women-led groups and youth councils in shaping our programs. We work to ensure that children, especially girls, are safe, healthy, educated and empowered.

This is
where we work

Plan International is active in more than 80 countries, working in places where the violations of children’s rights are the greatest and where we can create lasting, positive change. Founded in 1937, we are now one of the largest charities in the world.

This is
what we do

We strive to create a world where children, especially girls, learn, lead, decide and thrive. We tackle the root causes of gender inequality. We work with local governments and partners to advocate for children and develop programs that support them in their right to get an education and be healthy and protected from violence. We develop children’s leadership skills and their ability to earn a living when they grow up. We’re also there for them when crises strike. And we stay with them to help build a healthy, safe and sustainable life. To achieve these goals, our programs focus on our five priority areas of expertise.

Why girls

Investing in girls is one of the most effective ways to fight global poverty and create communities that are healthier, and more resilient, just and peaceful.

Lights. Camera. Action!

You've probably heard about our Child Sponsorship program. It's a big part of who we are. But instead of us telling you about the program, we turned the cameras over to 40+ sponsored children. In the videos in our interactive map below, the children introduce you to their families and communities. They share how sponsorship is making a difference in their lives!
