#LiftHerUp this International Women’s Day

Plan International Canada to launch an interactive 3D installation for girls’ rights awareness

CANADA, March 2, 2016 – In celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8, Plan International Canada is launching the “Lift Her Up” campaign to create a conversation about the very real impact that words can have on girls’ power and potential as they become confident women who will stand up for their rights and the rights of others. Media are invited to join Plan International Canada to discover the impact of how words can lift girls up.

The one-day “Lift Her Up” installation, located at the Toronto Eaton Centre, involves 3D technology and a collective social voice to lift up a holographic image of a girl. We are asking everyone – men, women, boys and girls – to use #LiftHerUp to send messages of empowerment, and each of those messages will affect the holographic girl in some way – just as words and voices have an impact in the real world. When the voices and messages are positive and strong, the girl will rise and eventually stand tall. If the voices and messages are negative and discouraging, the girl will fall and eventually sit down.
