Nicaragua flagCountry Profile

Capital: Managua

Language: Spanish

Population: 6 million

Plan International has worked in Nicaragua since 1994, helping children living in poverty access their rights to health, education, protection and economic security. 70% of Nicaragua’s population lives in poverty. We promote child rights and work to ensure that children, families and communities are active participants in their own development – from identifying problems to implementing solutions.

Currently, more than 30,000 children in 6 of Nicaragua's 15 departments participate in our programs.
