Plan International Canada President & CEO, Caroline Riseboro recognized as a one of Canada’s Most Powerful Women

TORONTO, November 22, 2017 – Plan International Canada is proud to announce its President and CEO, Caroline Riseboro, has been recognized as a 2017 Canada’s Most Powerful Women Top 100 Award Winner in the CIBC Trailblazers & Trendsetters category. This award celebrates and showcases the accomplishments of women leaders who have broken new ground or shattered traditional barriers while making a significant contribution to Canadian society.

As President & CEO of Plan International Canada, Caroline was the first woman in Canada to lead a major charity under age 40. Prior to her role at Plan, at 35 she became the first woman to attain a senior role (VP of Marketing) at World Vision. Throughout her career, she has challenged expectations and stereotypes that are often assumed of young female executives. She boldly champions gender inequality and girls’ rights both in Canada and abroad and calls on those around her to do the same.

Caroline Riseboro recognizes that empowering women to become leaders must start with adolescent girls. At Plan International Canada, she works tirelessly to elevate the importance of investing in girls at both the international and national level, calling on political leaders to focus on gender equality and girls’ rights as they key to global progress.

As a working mother herself, Caroline is relentlessly forging a new approach to leadership that embraces the duality of family and professional life, showcasing that it’s okay to do things differently. With this new approach, Caroline has led the creation of a new five-year strategy for the organization, with goal of helping 20 million children learn, lead, decide and thrive, giving the team “20 million reasons” to come to work every day. Since taking the helm of Plan International Canada in the spring of 2016 the organization has been out-performing in every measurable category.

Being recognized as a Canada’s Most Powerful Women Top 100 Award Winner is not only an honour, it is also an opportunity to send a message to young female leaders that ceilings are shattering and possibilities are endless. Plan International Canada celebrates all the female leaders who fearlessly push boundaries in their careers, amongst peers and for their communities.
