Samra Zafar is an award-winning international speaker, bestselling author, consultant, educator, and social entrepreneur who advocates for equity, inclusion, and human rights.

After arriving in Canada as a child bride and escaping a decade of abuse, Samra pursued her education as a single mother working multiple jobs and graduated as a top student with several awards and scholarships. It is necessary to break the silence for the millions of silences still waiting to be broken. This is exactly why I was inspired to join forces as a Celebrated Ambassador – to spread awareness for the work Plan International Canada does to help end child marriage and challenge gender norms.

Samra became an Ambassador in 2019 – the same year she released her book titled,A Good Wife: Escaping the Life I Never Chose . It’s a national bestseller and named among CBC's Best Books of 2019 for Canadian Nonfiction. The book is now being adapted to a TV series by Bell Media and being published internationally.

Among her many accomplishments, Samra has been recognized as one of Top 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada and a Top 25 Canadian Immigrant. She is also one of the youngest alumni serving as a Governor for the University of Toronto.
