Thanks to you, the lives of millions have been changed
2015 has been a year filled with great success and lots of excitement here at Plan Canada, but none of what was accomplished in the last year would have been possible without the generous support of our incredible donors. From coast to coast, the support received has made our job incredibly rewarding, and thanks to you, we’ve achieved a lot. Here’s a snapshot of what you’ve helped us achieve:
What our supporters have made possible
In the last year, we implemented 4,153 projects across 52 countries, all thanks to you. Your support helped us reach more than 85,200 communities, ultimately touching the lives of 214.3 million people around the globe. That’s more than ever before, making 2015 a year for the history books!
Through your continued support, we were able to help more children, their families and communities access their basic human rights and secure a brighter future together. This is just a snapshot. To truly understand the impact of your donation, meet some of the people around the globe benefiting from your support.
The people you’ve touched in 2015…
Meet Eva, age 9 from Paraguay. She and her family lacked a reliable water source. Instead, she had to walk to a well to haul buckets of water for her family, and in the dry season, the well dried up. But thanks to a Plan-supported project, all families in Eva’s community now have running water in their homes!
Ainul, a new father from Bangladesh, allowed his pregnant wife to deliver her baby at home with the help of an unqualified birth attendant. She later experienced life-threatening complications as a result of the home-birth, which prompted Ainul and his wife to attend prenatal meetings to prepare for their second child. They learned about safe delivery and proper maternal health from expert health workers, and Ainul attended all-male sessions to increase his awareness. Armed with this new knowledge, Ainul took his wife to a health centre where she safely delivered her second baby. Mom and baby are now healthy and thriving.
Ana, 13, from Mozambique, was orphaned at a young age. When both parents passed away, she and her brother moved in with their grandmother. When it was time for secondary school, her grandmother couldn’t afford the fees. But Ana was selected by Plan to receive a scholarship through a project that helps vulnerable girls realize their right to a quality education by removing physical and financial barriers that keep girls like her from school.
Thank you for everything you’ve helped us accomplish in 2015! We couldn’t do what we do every day without you.
