Plan Canada welcomes four new members to the Board of Directors

CANADA, January 21, 2016 – Plan Canada announces the appointment of four new members to its Board of Directors.

“I’m so pleased with the level of expertise and experience we’re able to attract to our Board,” said Karen Jackson, Chair of the Board of Directors of Plan Canada. “On behalf of all existing Board members, we are thrilled with these new directors as they have deep professional backgrounds in their respective fields and a passion for Plan’s approach to child-centred community development.”

New Board Members

David Adams, CPA, CA

David Adams is the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Aimia Inc., a global data-driven marketing and loyalty analytics company, which operates in 20 countries. Mr. Adams was elected to Plan Canada’s Board of Directors in January 2016. He also currently serves on the Board of Cardlytics and Club Premier. Mr. Adams is a CPA and CA, holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Finance degree from the University of Toronto, and has completed the Stanford Executive Program.

Patsy Anderson, C.M.

Patsy Anderson has served on a number of boards over the last 20 years, including The Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, The Hospital for Sick Children, SickKids Foundation (Chair 2006-2011), The Aldeburgh Connection (Chair 2008-present), Roy Thomson Hall & Massey Hall (Chair 1999-2001), and Rosedale United Church (Chair 2014-2016). She was elected to Plan Canada’s Board of Directors in November 2015 and is the Vice-Chair of the Board. She is a graduate of Queen’s University and the Harvard Business School. In 2012, she was named to the Order of Canada for her board leadership roles.

Colleen McMorrow, FCPA, FCA

Colleen McMorrow is a Partner and Canadian leader of Strategic Growth Markets at Ernst & Young LLP. She was elected to Plan Canada’s Board of Directors in November 2015 and brings to the table proven experience in audit, accounting, tax, financing, acquisition due diligence, IPO, corporate governance and business planning. Ms. McMorrow is a past lecturer at the Small Business Enterprise Program, School of Continuing Studies, at The University of Toronto. In 2015, she was nominated as a trailblazer and trend-setter on Canada’s Most Powerful Women Top 100 List.

Leagh Turner, M.A.

Leagh Turner is the Chief Operating Officer for SAP Canada. In November 2015, Ms. Turner was elected to Plan Canada’s Board of Directors, bringing to the table proven experience in operations, marketing, and value and solution engineering. Ms. Turner received an M.A. from The University of Western Ontario.

“We are very fortunate to have this esteemed group of individuals join the Plan Canada Board as the organization continues its efforts to improve the lives of children, their families and communities in 52 developing countries around the world,” said Marie Staunton, Interim President and CEO. “They will complement the strengths of the current Board and assist the organization as it looks to the future."
