Plan Canada welcomes Caroline Riseboro as new President and CEO

TORONTO, ON, January 14, 2016 – Plan Canada is pleased to welcome Caroline Riseboro as its President and CEO, effective March 7.

“It was an exhaustive and comprehensive search process and Ms. Riseboro was the best of a very strong field of candidates, from Europe, USA and Canada, who had both senior leadership and non-government organization experience. We were exceedingly impressed with her leadership, strategic thinking, people and influencing skills, track record of delivering exceptional results, and dedication to the cause of children for whom we work as well as her understanding of our programming in development,” said Karen Jackson, Plan Canada’s Board Chair.

Ms. Riseboro is currently the Senior Vice-President, Marketing and Development at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) Foundation in Toronto. At CAMH, she has played an instrumental role in significantly expanding the organization’s reach among Canadians and helping to reduce the stigma of mental illness. Prior to CAMH, Ms. Riseboro held several senior executive roles in the international development sector, most recently as Senior Vice-President at World Vision Canada where she oversaw its advocacy both nationally and globally, played a key role in increasing grant revenue, provided leadership to gender and advocacy programming at the field-level and was responsible for private donations of over $270 million annually.

Ms. Riseboro is passionate about engaging Canadians in tackling society’s most pressing issues, and is credited with launching numerous ground-breaking and award-winning campaigns aimed at creating a world in which every person and child can thrive. “I am thrilled to join Plan Canada as its new President & CEO,” says Ms. Riseboro, “and I look forward to working with the team to help create a world in which all children can realize their full potential.”

Plan Canada has a strong team of more than 200 expert staff currently under the leadership of Marie Staunton, who will continue as Interim President & CEO until Ms. Riseboro’s start date.
