The Malala Effect

Celebrating in words and art

In 2014, Plan marked International Women’s Day on March 6 in a very special way: celebrating “the Malala Effect” in words and art. Plan Canada CEO Rosemary McCarney launched her new book, Every Day is Malala Day, surrounded by works inspired by the book and created for the occasion by 24 Canadian painters, photographers and sculptors. It’s a tribute to the courageous crusader who has moved the world with her message that she, Malala Yousafzai, is only one of millions of girls who must fight – even risk their lives – for their right to an education. The book is dedicated to those 65 million girls.
