Kids Who Care

Filmed in March and April 1998, this video uses examples of actual community-based projects in Senegal and Togo in which children are working on solutions to environmental problems such as desertification and water pollution. These stories are presented in the hope that they will inspire young people in Canada to educate themselves and others on environmental issues and the important contribution that young people can make to their communities locally and globally.

The video can be used as a classroom activity in itself, or as background to discussions and additional activities (see Activity links at right). Students could be encouraged to ask questions about what they see and hear, and seek additional information on West Africa and the people who live there.

The video can be downloaded online in .wmv format. Viewing the video requires that Windows Media Player is installed on your computer. Windows Media Player can be downloaded free from Microsoft.com.
