Since October of 1997, we have consulted with representatives of global education groups, teachers and students across Canada on how to make this resource relevant, useful and inspiring for teachers and students.

Two hundred and twenty teachers participated in a survey on how global and environmental education strategies are implemented in their schools. Meetings were held in four Canadian provinces, and more than 50 teachers and student groups were contacted by telephone in others.

A rough cut of the video was piloted in an additional 50 schools in eight provinces and the Yukon. Students and teachers made recommendations about the script and content of the video. Teachers were asked to comment on how the themes presented in "Kids Who Care" relate to their curriculum and to suggest additional ways to make curriculum links. Ministry of Education officials and the former Global Education Consultant at the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) were also consulted.

The result is an easy-to-use resource that provides suggestions for lesson plans across your curriculum. Background information is supplemented by engaging activities for the students and easy-to-photocopy black-line masters for the teacher.
