January 12, 2010 – A 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck Haiti today, causing devastating damage in the impoverished country.
The quake was centred 15 km west of the capital, Port-au-Prince, and was felt as far away as the neighbouring Dominican Republic.
Plan staff are actively gathering information and will report more details as they become available. This is reported to be the largest earthquake ever reported in the area, and the need will be great.
Please make a donation to help the children and families affected. Your contribution will provide immediate emergency relief and address recovery needs in the coming days and weeks.
We will continue to update this site as more information becomes available.
