Join the girls of MTV in learning about girls’ rights

In 2008, the girls of MTV visited Plan projects in Africa, the Caribbean and South America and got their eyes opened to the challenges facing young girls in troubled countries.  Their experiences, made possible through a partnership among MTV, the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), and Plan Canada, were captured on film.

Join Nicole as she travels to Haiti and learns from Patricia what it’s like to be a 14-year orphan struggling to survive on the street – more familiar with a jail cell than a schoolroom.  Hear Diane support Liseth, a 16-year-old Colombian peace advocate, in a local radio broadcast promoting dialogue over violence.  Watch along with Aliya-Jasmine as Suku and the Girls Education Movement in Southern Sudan promote education and speak out against the practice of forcing young girls into marriage.

With Plan’s support, these girls are all raising their voices and making a difference in their communities.  We invite you to watch as well.

“I really hope people watch the show and realize what they have and how they can make a difference,” says Aliya-Jasmine.

Nicole adds:  “It would be great if after our viewers watch this special, they go to the computer and look up the website and try to figure out how to help.”
