2015 Top 20 Under 20™ award recipient
Chuyang Aaron Lin, 17
While abroad in the Dominican Republic, Aaron encountered many cases of skin infections, which prompted him to research molecular genetics and infectious disease upon his return to Canada. His experiences deepened his interest in scientific and social factors in healthcare accessibility. Aaron leads his school’s chapter of World Vision and founded a cancer-prevention committee under the auspices of the Canadian Cancer Society. Aaron is a youth science ambassador for the Foundation for Student Science and Technology, and his current project involves assembling a library of fungal and bacterial species native to the human microbiome, which he hopes will enable researchers to discover new antibiotics and anti-cancer compounds.
