Calvin Rieder, 18
Calvin created the first system that extracts water from the atmosphere in meaningful volumes for human consumption without using external energy. Inspired to solve the global water crisis, Calvin completed his first project in 2010. Over the past 5 years, he has since done three more iterations of increasingly complex projects. Calvin has received 34 awards for his water innovations including a Bronze Medal and a Gold Medal at the Canada-Wide Science Fairs and the Engineering Innovation Junior Award. Calvin also won a 2nd Place Grand Award at the International Science and Engineering Fair, for which he has an asteroid named after him.
